CVIM recently was awarded a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.  Launched in 2002, Charity Navigator is an independent non-profit organization that evaluates American charities.  Its stated goal is to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America’s charities.  Charity Navigator functions with a focus on helping donors make informed giving decisions and enabling well-run charities to demonstrate their commitment to proper stewardship.

Charity Navigator’s rating system consists of five tiers that are evaluated with a series of “star” ratings.  Rating can range from no stars, or “exceptionally poor”, to 4-star, or “exceptional”.  The organization describes a charity achieving a 4-star rating as one that “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause.”

The mission of Charity Navigator is to guide intelligent giving in order to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace.  Only through developing strong and trusting relationships between donors and non-profits can the larger American community work in tandem to overcome the nation’s most persistent challenges.
