The volunteer force at Community Volunteers in Medicine is the heart and soul of the clinic.  Licensed clinician and professional volunteers give of their time and talent to ensure that our more than 2,800 patients receive the important medical and dental care that they need.  The thousands of clinical volunteer hours they provide is valued at nearly $1.2 million, but for the hundreds of patients who would not receive care without their thoughtful compassion, their volunteerism is priceless.  CVIM is looking to expand the volunteer force at the clinic by filling some pressing needs:

  • Registered Dietitians or Nutritionists.  Volunteers in this area must have already graduated with at least an undergraduate degree in nutrition.  It is desired that you be able to volunteer at least twice a month.  If interested, please contact Rachel at
  • Front Office Support Volunteers.  Volunteers should be bilingual (English/Spanish).  If interested, please contact Marie at
  • Medical Interpreters.  Volunteers should be bilingual (English/Spanish) and knowledgeable in medical vocabulary in both languages.  If interested, please contact Marie at
  • Physical Therapists.  If interested, please contact Dr. Mary Wirshup at

Over the past year the clinic’s volunteer complement has grown to more than 300 and our volunteers donated over 45,000 hours of service.  We invite you to learn more about our volunteer needs and urge you to consider joining our team.
