This past year was a gain one of great challenges and equally satisfying triumps.  Our team of 300 clinical and support volunteers joined with our core staff to help treat illness, prevent and manage chronic disease and just as important – to uplift spirits and guide our patients to choosing better, healthier lifestyles.  Our patients benefited from the expertise and compassion of the CVIM family as they received free medical and dental care coupled with prescription medications, counseling and wellness education.

So many of our patients and supporters have asked us how the Affordable Care Act will affect the services offered at our free clinic.  While the new law is a milestone on the journey to reforming our healthcare system, in Pennsylvania, with no current Medicaid expansion, it is estimated that a half a million individuals will remain uninsured or under insured and will need access to a quality-focused, comprehensive medical home.  Additionally the law only minimally addresses dental insurance issues.  Our current patients have expressed deep concern that they will not be able to afford to purchase insurance in the marketplace because of the daily demands of providing food and shelter for their families while struggling to keep gas in the car so they may get to their jobs.

Rest assured that CVIM will remain as a sound safety net organization and we will evolve our programs and protocols as necessary to meet the healthcare needs of this deserving community.

Our 2013 annual report is now available on our website along with annual reports from 2012 and 2011 as well.
