A graduate of Temple University School of dental hygiene and West Chester University, Alberta has experienced many roles as a dental hygienist ranging from private practice, school dental hygiene, and public health.

Alberta , RDH, MEd  is an advocate for access to dental care and is currently the Vice President of Dental Services at Community Volunteers in Medicine.  At the clinic she is responsible for 28 volunteer dentists, 10 volunteer dental hygienists, Temple senior dental students, and dental hygiene students from both Harcum College and Montgomery County Community College.  She coordinates a county wide head start fluoride varnish program providing fluoride applications to close to 500 children twice a year and speaks to local social agencies about oral health.  She is also an adjunct faculty member at Harcum College where she teaches “Community Oral Health” to senior hygiene students.

She was the recipient of the PDHA Community Dental Award, the Distinguished Temple Dental Hygiene Alumni Award, and received multiple citations from her local Senator for CVIM’s participation in the tenth annual Sealant Saturday program.

As an advocate for access to care, she also had the opportunity to be a presenter to both the State and National Free Clinic Association conferences.  The presentations included “The Challenges of Incorporating a Dental Clinic” and  “Dental and Medical Working Together”.  In addition to her dental hygiene profession, she is very active in her church and was recently appointed by the County Commissioner as a member of Chester County Women’s Commission.

As a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association, Alberta is very active in the public health council and helped coordinate PDHA’s 2005 Lobby Day  in Harrisburg. She also presented testimony to both Senate and House Committees in support of local anesthesia for dental hygienists and for establishing certification for a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner in Pennsylvania.   After serving PDHA as Vice President and President Elect, Alberta was installed as President of PDHA this November during the 89th Annual Session in Lancaster, PA.
